Catch the Vicksburg Vision!
We are a city and county keeping our date with destiny

Vicksburg has been fortunate to experience economic growth over the past several years.  Dockside gaming, the river’s newest industry, is one of the fastest growing segments of the United States entertainment industry.

Since the first Vicksburg casino opened in 1993, millions of dollars in revenue have been generated for the local and state economy.  Vicksburg is now the home of four casinos, each with a land owned hotel or RV facility.  The casinos are the Isle of Capri Casino and Hotel, Rainbow Hotel Casino, Ameristar Casino and Hotel and Horizon Casino and Hotel.

More than fifty manufacturing firms are located in Warren County.  This traditional segment of the local economy is responsible for the manufacturing of a wide range of products including lighting fixtures, wood products, chemicals, prefabricated housing, fabricated metal products, linerboard, petroleum products and automotive parts.

Government plays an important role in the local economy.  The four offices of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers alone are responsible for annual expenditures of nearly $500 million.

Wholesale, retail, and service businesses contribute to our economic health.  Nearly 50% of the employed labor market influences tax and other revenues through income earned within this non-manufacturing segment of the local economy.

Agribusiness continues to an important component of the area’s economy.  Timber and soybeans are the county’s two major cash crops.  Cotton remains the third most important harvest in Warren County.  Other cash crops include corn, wheat, and sorghum.

Affordable public and private industrial property is widely available throughout Warren County.  Nearly 900 acres are available at the Ceres Research and Industrial Interplex.  This facility, convenient to all major transportation systems, could easily become one of the Southeast’s premiere industrial centers.

The E. W. Haining Industrial Center is north of the city at the confluence of the Yazoo and Mississippi Rivers.  This location offers easy access to the Port of Vicksburg and is served by the Kansas City Southern Railroad.

The Vicksburg and Warren County Economic Development Foundation maintains complete information on available resources within the county’s industrial parks/centers and other sites.

The Vicksburg Convention Center, with over 50,000 square feet, features over 25,000 square feet of space for meetings, banquets, conferences, exhibitors, conventions, and special events.
